Yi Wang

This young international artist graduated from the Xi’ An Conservatory of Music after studying Sheng with famous professors and virtuosos Hongbin Zhao and Huaen Yue.

Ever since coming to Canada as a landed immigrant Yi Wang set out to continue to bring music into his and other people’s lives. Presently he plays an important role in the success of many music organizations, namely as Chairman of the Saskatoon Chinese Artists Union, as Director of the China National Orchestra Association and as Executive Director of the Sheng Professional Committee of China.

Although young in age, Yi Wang is not only a Sheng virtuoso, but also an expert in piano improvisation. He also plays other Chinese musical instruments, including xiao, hulusi, bawu, xun and percussion instruments.
